Physics 51 HW
Ch. Q21.3 Clothes stick together in a dryer because when different types of material (cotton, nylon, rayon, polyester, etc.) rub together electrons are removed from one material and deposited on the other resulting in both materials having a net charge of opposite sign. Attractive Coulomb forces make clothes cling or stick together.
If all the clothes were made of the same material there would be no preferred electron transfer and no net charge established, and therefore no attractive force or clinging.
